Vision for 2026-2035: Leadership for Impact
The University of Hong Kong has unveiled Vision for 20262035: Leadership for Impact, a strategic framework guiding the University’s direction for continued growth and development over the next decade.

The new vision – ‘A world-leading university transforming humanity’s future’ – is the foundation on which HKU will strive to attract, nurture, and inspire future leaders to create knowledge, address global challenges, advance humanity, and promote sustainability. The University will leverage its unique heritage and global position to connect and influence both the East and West through an extensive network of intellectual hubs. Additionally, HKU aims to transform itself by fully exploiting and exploring artificial intelligence.

“HKU is committed to embracing a truly international perspective in all our endeavours in a rapidly evolving global setting, demonstrating greater agility and adaptability. Our approach is driven by bold ambition, proactive initiatives, and a clear focus on achieving meaningful goals. As HKU approaches its 115th anniversary, this vision delineates again the University’s dedication to academic excellence and societal contribution,” said Professor Xiang Zhang, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKU.

In line with the pursuit of global leadership through interdisciplinary research, technological innovation, and strategic partnerships, the University will expand its engagement with key national and international initiatives, reinforcing its position as a nexus of knowledge exchange and discovery, thereby further contributing to both the nation and Hong Kong.

HKU is also devoted to strengthening its educational mission by fostering a globally connected and intellectually vibrant campus, and preparing its students to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving world. By integrating its strengths in interdisciplinary education and research, HKU will lead the way in developing innovative solutions to complex issues, ultimately benefiting humanity.

“Building on our century-long legacy, we will embrace innovation to shape the future of education and research. As a globally leading university, HKU will continue to make impact and achievements in all realms, and soar to new heights,” Professor Zhang added.
